What is Hill End?

Hill End provides outdoor learning experiences on our doorstep and generations have fond memories of outdoor trips to this 67 acre site. In 1920 the Wytham Estate was purchased by the philanthropic ffennell family, who established Hill End ‘Camp’. They later gifted the whole Estate to the University of Oxford.

The Hill End vision is "to build on the rich heritage of the centre by providing a unique space and opportunities for high-quality and inspirational outdoor learning to a diverse range of young people".

Today they offer a huge range of activities from Family Forest Days, Bushcraft courses and Forest Tots. To find out more and to book an activity go to their events page 

How can I get involved?

You can become a 'Friend of Hill End', this is a membership organisation open to anyone who can support the Hill End Centre by donating time, resources, skills or money.

​

The aim of the group is ‘to support and promote the Hill End Centre to the people of Oxfordshire and beyond, and ensure its future’.

​

​You can also be part of the 'Friends of Hill End Volunteer Team' who work regularly on maintenance and development tasks and is a vital part of the Hill End team.
